Blinn vs Paris
PARIS, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Blinn Buccaneers visit the Paris Dragons.
Blinn (13-9) looks to rebound from a narrow home loss to Lamar State-Port Arthur, 66-65, on Wednesday. The Buccaneers had won five of their previous six games before that defeat. Paris (10-12) arrives with momentum, having won two of its last three, including an 88-81 road victory at Bossier Parish on Wednesday.
The matchup features two of the region’s top scorers. Blinn’s Dashawn Ceaser has been on a tear, averaging 24.3 points over his last six complete games, including a 32-point, 7-rebound performance in a win over Tyler on Feb. 7. Paris will counter with guard Amari Brown, who is coming off a 20-point game against Kilgore and has dished out 21 assists over his last three contests.
The Dragons won the season’s first meeting, 77-72, at Blinn on Dec. 6. That result adds an element of revenge for the Buccaneers as they try to solidify their standing above .500.
For Paris, protecting home court is critical as it seeks to climb back to an even season record. The Dragons’ recent form, particularly their offensive output in wins over Lamar State-Port Arthur and Angelina, suggests they are capable of challenging the more consistent Buccaneers.
Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon at the Hunt Center. The game will be a key regional contest as both teams enter the final stretch of the regular season. Blinn visits Bossier Parish on Feb. 28, while Paris hosts Coastal Bend the same day.
