Williston State vs Lake Region State
Preview: Tetons Visit Royals in Junior College Men’s Basketball
WILLISTON, N.D. (Interstat) — The Williston State Tetons visit the Lake Region State Royals in a men’s junior college basketball game Thursday night.
The Tetons (6-10) enter the contest looking to rebound from a narrow 92-89 road loss to Dawson on Monday. The Royals (1-13) seek to end a two-game skid, most recently a 134-88 home defeat to Dawson on Feb. 9.
Williston State holds a clear advantage in the season series, having routed Lake Region State 102-74 at home on Jan. 26. In that game, Tetons standout Josiah McDonald scored 28 points with eight rebounds in just 30 minutes. The teams’ prior meeting last November was closer, with Williston State securing a 97-94 road win.
McDonald is the focal point for the Tetons. The forward is coming off a dominant 43-point, 12-rebound performance in the loss to Dawson, his third double-double in the last five games. Over that stretch, he is averaging 27 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.
For the Royals, Ashton Munro has been a consistent contributor. He posted a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds against North Dakota State College of Science on Feb. 1 and scored 16 points in Lake Region State’s lone win this season, a 94-84 victory over Miles on Feb. 8. His minutes were limited to 10 in the previous matchup against Williston State.
Despite the disparity in records, a statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a tightly contested game, simulating a 100-100 final score.
Williston State’s next game is at home against North Dakota State College of Science on Monday.
