Balanced Triton Halts Malcolm X in High-Scoring Junior College Affair

RIVER GROVE, Ill. (Interstat) — The Triton Trojans used a balanced offensive attack to defeat the Malcolm X Hawks 96-76 in a men’s junior college basketball game Thursday.

Triton, which evened its record at 12-12, never trailed after a high-scoring first quarter. The Trojans led 46-34 after one and extended their advantage to 96-76 by the final horn. The Hawks, who fell to 12-8, were led by a 42-point second-quarter effort but could not close the gap. The result avenged a 70-59 loss at Malcolm X on Dec. 4. The Trojans’ win was powered by key performances from Ethan Johnson, Khaled Khaled and Matt Sullivan. Both teams return to action Tuesday.
