Cloud County vs Pratt

PRATT, Kan. (Interstat) — The Cloud County Thunderbirds look to continue their push for a winning season when they visit the struggling Pratt Beavers in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday.

Cloud County (12-11) enters on the heels of a dominant 75-55 home victory over Hutchinson on Saturday. The Thunderbirds have won two of their last three, averaging 91 points in those wins. Pratt (3-19) seeks to end a seven-game losing streak, with its last win coming on Jan. 26.

A key matchup will feature Cloud County’s Manasseh Stackhouse against Pratt’s Muna Godswill. Stackhouse is coming off a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Hutchinson, his second strong performance in three games. Godswill has shown flashes for the Beavers, scoring 16 points with 7 rebounds in a loss to Dodge City last Saturday.

The Thunderbirds won the previous meeting this season handily, 95-73 at home on Jan. 3. Cloud County’s offense has been potent, scoring 90 or more points in six of its last ten contests. Syncere Burnette, who dished 12 assists in the last game, facilitates that attack.

Pratt has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 83.5 points during its current skid. The Beavers will need a significant effort from recent contributors like Seydina Faye, who posted a double-double last week, and Galvin Luketa, who scored 17 points against Dodge City, to spring an upset.

For Cloud County, the game represents a chance to solidify its record before a tough stretch that includes games against Garden City and on the road at Butler (Kan.). Pratt aims to find a spark before hosting Colby on Saturday.

Tipoff is set for Wednesday night at the Beaver Dome.
