Southern-Shreveport vs Baton Rouge

Preview: Southern-Shreveport Jaguars at Baton Rouge Bears

SHREVEPORT, La. (Interstat) — The Southern-Shreveport Jaguars and Baton Rouge Bears will meet for the third time this month when the men’s junior college basketball teams face off Wednesday night.

The Jaguars (7-7) have won both previous meetings this season and will look to complete the February sweep of the Bears (3-15) on the road. Southern-Shreveport earned a 67-62 home victory on Feb. 7 and an 83-76 win at Baton Rouge on Feb. 2.

Southern-Shreveport enters following a tight 64-61 road win over Delgado on Feb. 11. The Jaguars have been led by forward Kalvin Vengeto, who posted 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in 38 minutes against Delgado. He will be a key factor against Baton Rouge’s frontcourt.

The Bears, however, are coming off their most impressive performance of the season, an 86-70 home victory over Delgado on Feb. 14. Guard Kentrell Freeman paced Baton Rouge in that win with 14 points and 7 rebounds in 31 minutes. His backcourt play will be critical for the Bears to break through against their recent nemesis.

While the Jaguars hold the clear advantage in the season series and overall record, Baton Rouge’s decisive win over a common opponent suggests potential for a more competitive rematch. The Bears will aim to carry the momentum from their highest-scoring output of the season, while Southern-Shreveport seeks to continue its recent defensive success after holding its last two opponents under 70 points.

The game tips off Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, in Baton Rouge. Southern-Shreveport’s next game is at home against Delgado on Feb. 21. Baton Rouge travels to face Delgado on Feb. 25.
