Trinity Valley vs Coastal Bend
COASTAL BEND, Texas (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Wednesday when the surging Trinity Valley Cardinals visit the struggling Coastal Bend Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball game.
The Cardinals (20-4) enter on a five-game winning streak and sit near the top of the conference standings. The Cougars (3-16) have lost five straight and are near the bottom, setting the stage for a potential mismatch at Faculty Night.
Trinity Valley, ranked among the region’s best, has been dominant, particularly on the defensive end. In their last meeting on Jan. 7, the Cardinals routed Coastal Bend 95-38. They are coming off a 75-64 victory over Bossier Parish on Saturday, led by a balanced attack.
A key player for Trinity Valley is guard M.J. Wardlow, who is coming off a strong all-around performance of 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists against Bossier Parish. Over his last six games, Wardlow has averaged 12 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4 assists, serving as a consistent catalyst for the high-scoring Cardinals.
Coastal Bend, meanwhile, is searching for answers after a 79-50 road loss to Panola on Saturday. The Cougars have not won since Jan. 17. Guard Taj Petteway has shown scoring flashes, including a 16-point outing against Lee on Feb. 11, but the team has struggled with consistency on both ends of the floor.
Despite the lopsided records and previous result, Interstat’s game simulator projects an improbable 100-100 tie, suggesting potential for an offensive shootout. Trinity Valley will look to continue its march toward a postseason seed, while Coastal Bend aims to find a spark and pull off a major upset on its home court.
Following this game, Trinity Valley travels to Panola on Saturday. Coastal Bend will visit Tyler on Saturday.
