Georgia Highlands vs Central Georgia

Preview: Georgia Highlands at Central Georgia

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (Interstat) — A pivotal in-state junior college men’s basketball matchup is set for Wednesday when the Central Georgia Titans host the Georgia Highlands Chargers.

The Titans (9-6) enter with a winning record and look to rebound from a narrow 65-62 home loss to South Georgia Tech on Feb. 11. Central Georgia has been strong at home this season, with key victories including a 70-65 win over Albany Tech on Jan. 28 and an 86-56 rout of East Georgia State on Feb. 4.

Central Georgia is led by guard Roosevelt Brown, who has been a consistent force. Brown is coming off a 40-minute, 24-point performance in the loss to South Georgia Tech and averaged 20.3 points over a recent three-game stretch in February.

The visiting Georgia Highlands Chargers (6-9) are seeking momentum after an overtime win, 91-90, over Andrew on Feb. 14. That victory snapped a two-game skid for the Chargers, who have struggled for consistency.

Georgia Highlands will rely on forward Justen Goudelock, who is coming off a dominant double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Andrew. Goudelock has scored 19 or more points in three of his last five games, though his playing time has fluctuated.

The recent head-to-head result favors the Titans, who defeated the Chargers 76-64 in Rome on Jan. 14. In that game, Central Georgia established an early lead and controlled the tempo, handing Georgia Highlands one of its four losses in the last six games.

For Central Georgia, a win would solidify its position above .500 and build confidence before a Saturday showdown with Gordon State. For Georgia Highlands, an upset on the road would provide a crucial boost to its season record and serve as payback for January’s defeat.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Titans’ home arena.
