Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa vs Seminole State (Okla.)
SEMINOLE, Okla. (Interstat) — A month after a decisive home loss to Seminole State, the Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa men’s basketball team gets its chance for redemption on the road Monday night.
The Seminole State Trojans (12-6) will host the Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa Mavericks (8-9) in a junior college conference matchup on Feb. 16. The Trojans dominated the previous meeting, winning 89-66 in Tonkawa on Jan. 15.
Seminole State enters on a strong run, having won five of its last six games. That streak includes a narrow 76-75 road victory over Western Oklahoma State last Thursday. The Trojans’ offense has been potent, averaging 80.6 points per game during this recent stretch.
Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa seeks consistency after a split in its last two outings. The Mavericks followed a road loss to Eastern Oklahoma State with an 80-76 victory at Western Oklahoma State on Feb. 9. Their performance has been uneven; the win over Western Oklahoma State was just their second road victory in their last seven attempts away from home.
The head-to-head result from January looms large. Seminole State’s 23-point win showcased a balanced attack and stifling defense that the Mavericks struggled to solve. For Tonkawa to reverse that outcome, improving defensive intensity and limiting turnovers will be critical.
The game carries weight for both teams’ positioning within the conference as the regular season enters its final weeks. Seminole State aims to solidify its standing among the league’s top teams, while Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa looks to climb back to .500 and build momentum.
After this contest, Seminole State’s next game is at Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Feb. 23. Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa will host Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Feb. 19.
Tip-off is scheduled for Monday night at Raymond Harber Fieldhouse.
