Connors State vs Murray State (Okla.)
Aggies Host Cowboys in Junior College Men’s Basketball Showdown
MURRAY, Okla. (Interstat) — The Murray State (Okla.) Aggies will look to complete a regular-season sweep when they host the Connors State Cowboys in a men’s junior college basketball game Monday.
The Aggies (14-7) defeated the Cowboys (8-5) 73-63 on the road on Jan. 15. Murray State enters on a two-game winning streak, including a 79-74 victory at Redlands last Thursday. Connors State snapped a two-game skid with a 93-87 home win over Eastern Oklahoma State on Feb. 12.
Murray State’s defense, anchored by forward Abeeng Agot, will be a key factor. Agot is averaging 9.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks over his last five games. He recorded 16 points and nine rebounds in a narrow 90-88 win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Feb. 7.
Connors State has shown offensive firepower, scoring over 100 points twice this season, but has struggled with consistency. Since the loss to Murray State in January, the Cowboys are 4-3, with victories in their last two home games.
The matchup features contrasting styles. The Aggies have relied on a balanced attack and rim protection, while the Cowboys will aim to push the tempo. Connors State guard play, which fueled their recent 93-point performance, will be tested by Murray State’s perimeter defense.
This game is the first of a critical final stretch for both teams as they jockey for postseason positioning in Region 2. Following this contest, Murray State travels to Eastern Oklahoma State on Thursday, while Connors State hosts Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
Tip-off is set for Monday night at the Murray State gymnasium.
