Barton vs Garden City

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Interstat) — A key men’s junior college basketball matchup with postseason implications is set for Saturday when the Garden City Broncbusters host the Barton Cougars at Conestoga Arena.

Both teams enter the Valentine’s Day clash on winning streaks and within striking distance in the conference standings. Barton (17-8) has won three straight, including a narrow 78-76 victory over Fort Hays Tech on Wednesday. Garden City (15-8) has won its last two, edging Seward County 77-76 on the road in its most recent outing.

The game features a compelling backcourt showdown between two of the region’s top scorers. Barton’s Aris Rodriguez is coming off a 21-point performance in the win over Fort Hays Tech. Garden City will counter with Dasean Lewis, who poured in 23 points in the victory at Seward County.

This contest also serves as a rematch of a December meeting dominated by the Broncbusters. On Dec. 13, Garden City routed Barton 111-95, a result the Cougars are undoubtedly eager to avenge as they seek to improve their 17-8 record.

The Cougars have found a rhythm in February, winning four of their last five games. Their recent success has been built on clutch play, with two overtime victories in that span, including an 85-78 OT win at Pratt on Feb. 7.

Garden City has been explosive at home, averaging over 100 points in its last two games at Conestoga Arena, wins over Independence and Fort Hays Tech. The Broncbusters’ offense will test a Barton defense that has shown resilience during its current streak.

With both teams jockeying for position ahead of the regional tournament, Saturday’s contest carries significant weight. Barton will look to continue its February surge and exact revenge, while Garden City aims to protect its home court and sweep the season series.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in Garden City.
