East Georgia State vs South Georgia Tech
Preview: East Georgia State Bobcats at South Georgia Tech Jets
AMERICUS, Ga. (Interstat) — Two Georgia junior college men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the South Georgia Tech Jets host the East Georgia State Bobcats.
The matchup at the Hangar marks the second meeting this season between the programs. On Jan. 17, the Jets (9-14) secured a 77-69 road victory over the Bobcats (7-15). South Georgia Tech has since gone 3-3, most recently edging Central Georgia 65-62 on Wednesday behind a strong performance from Jalexs Ewing. The guard played the entire 40 minutes, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
East Georgia State is looking to rebound from a 78-66 home loss to South Georgia State on Wednesday. In that defeat, guard Adyn Grant led the Bobcats with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists in just one minute of play, a statistical anomaly indicating a possible data entry error in provided records. Teammates Evan Daniel (7 points, 7 rebounds) and Jamarie Brown (16 points) also contributed.
The Bobcats’ season has been inconsistent, featuring a 93-78 win over Georgia Highlands on Feb. 7 but also a 30-point loss to Central Georgia three days prior. Their last victory came against Southern Crescent on Jan. 28.
South Georgia Tech has shown a higher ceiling, including a 32-point win over Georgia Highlands on Jan. 28 and a 53-point rout of Andrew College on Jan. 24. However, they have also suffered narrow losses, falling by one point to Gordon State on Feb. 4.
The Jets will rely on Ewing’s two-way stamina and scoring, alongside Guillaume Schoentgen (16 points vs. Central Georgia) and Marc Ferdy (7 rebounds, 4 assists). East Georgia State’s hopes will likely hinge on Grant’s offensive production and the frontcourt presence of Daniel.
With both teams near the bottom of the region standings but within reach of a late-season surge, Saturday’s contest offers a critical opportunity to build confidence. The Jets aim for a regular-season sweep, while the Bobcats seek to avenge their January loss and halt a two-game skid.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on February 14, 2026.
