South Georgia Tech vs Central Georgia
(Interstat) — SOUTH GEORGIA TECH JETS (8-14) at CENTRAL GEORGIA TITANS (9-5)
WHEN: Wednesday, 7 p.m. EST
WHERE: Central Georgia Gymnasium
THE SETUP: The Central Georgia Titans look to continue their winning form and complete a regular-season sweep when they host the South Georgia Tech Jets in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Wednesday night. The Titans (9-5) have won four straight games, including a 76-74 road victory over South Georgia State last Saturday. The Jets (8-14) seek to snap a two-game skid and avenge a 94-74 home loss to these same Titans on Jan. 7.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: The game features a compelling frontcourt duel. Central Georgia is led by standout Kaziaes Hemphill, who is coming off a dominant performance with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 blocks in the win over South Georgia State. For South Georgia Tech, forward Matt Mbole has been a force on the glass. In three games between Jan. 21-28, he averaged 17.3 rebounds and 4.0 blocks, including a 19-point, 19-rebound effort in a win over Georgia Highlands.
RECENT TRENDS: Central Georgia has found consistency, winning seven of its last eight contests. Their offense has topped 86 points in three of their last five outings. South Georgia Tech’s season has been streaky; a four-game winning streak in late January has been followed by losses in two of its last three, including a 68-63 defeat at Albany Tech on Monday.
WHAT TO WATCH: Can the Jets contain Hemphill and slow the Titans’ momentum? Mbole’s interior presence will be critical for South Georgia Tech, which must improve its defense after allowing 94 points in the first meeting. Central Georgia will rely on its recent balanced scoring, evidenced by Kaden Douglass’s 27-point outing alongside Hemphill’s last game.
UP NEXT: South Georgia Tech hosts East Georgia State on Saturday. Central Georgia hosts Georgia Highlands on Feb. 18.
