Northeastern (Colo.) vs Southeast
BOBCATS HOST PLAINSMEN IN JUNIOR COLLEGE REMATCH
BEATRICE, Neb. (Interstat) — The Southeast Community College Bobcats will look to avenge an earlier loss when they host the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen in a men’s junior college basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The Plainsmen (12-6) enter with momentum, having won three straight games, including a 93-87 home victory over these same Bobcats on Jan. 18. Southeast (7-8) has lost two of its last three, most recently falling 83-70 at McCook on Feb. 7.
Northeastern’s offense is powered by sophomore guard Ethan Carter, who torched the Bobcats for 25 points and six rebounds in the first meeting. Carter is coming off a dominant performance in an 89-78 win over Trinidad State on Feb. 5, where he posted 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists. His backcourt mate, Dodge Davis, added 24 points and 10 rebounds in that contest, giving the Plainsmen a potent scoring duo.
Southeast will counter with guard Arthur Videira, though his recent playing time has been limited. The Bobcats’ path to an upset likely hinges on a collective defensive effort to contain Carter and Davis, and improved production from their supporting cast. In the Jan. 18 defeat, Southeast kept pace offensively but could not secure key stops late.
The Plainsmen have shown resilience in close games, with four of their last six wins decided by five points or fewer, including a 78-77 nail-biter over McCook on Jan. 31. Southeast has also been in tight contests, with an 82-79 overtime win at Otero on Jan. 30.
Following this matchup, Northeastern will travel to face Lamar on Feb. 14, while Southeast remains home to host Western Nebraska on the same date. Wednesday’s tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Central Time at the Bobcats’ home court.
