Indian River State vs Miami Dade
Preview: Indian River State at Miami Dade Men’s Basketball
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency will meet Wednesday when the Miami Dade Sharks host the Indian River State Pioneers in a men’s junior college basketball game.
Both teams enter with identical 6-10 records in all competitions, though Miami Dade holds a 6-8 mark against NJCAA competition. The game is a rematch of a Jan. 10 meeting won 78-70 by Indian River State on its home floor.
The Pioneers have lost four of their last five games, including a 101-82 defeat at Florida Southwestern State on Jan. 31. In that loss, sophomore guard Isiah Cameron scored 24 points with six rebounds and four assists. Cameron’s recent performances have fluctuated, from a triple-double in a win over Polk State on Jan. 17 to limited minutes in other contests, making his impact a key variable for Indian River State.
Miami Dade is coming off a narrow 87-86 home loss to Eastern Florida State on Feb. 7. In that game, forward Leeroy Nijean nearly posted a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Nijean has been a steady presence on the boards, grabbing at least seven rebounds in five of his last six significant outings.
For the Sharks, guard Anthony Breland is also a primary offensive threat, coming off a 25-point performance in the last game.
The rematch presents an opportunity for Miami Dade to avenge its earlier loss and gain ground in the standings. Indian River State will aim to replicate its January success by containing Nijean’s interior presence and generating offense beyond Cameron.
Following this game, Indian River State will host Hillsborough on Saturday. Miami Dade travels to face Florida Southwestern State next Wednesday.
