Richard J Daley vs Harry S Truman
Struggling Teams Seek Rare Win in Junior College Matchup
CHICAGO (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams mired in difficult seasons will look for a rare bright spot when the Richard J Daley Bulldogs visit the Harry S Truman Falcons on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
The non-conference matchup features a pair of programs with a combined five wins this season. Daley enters at 3-13 overall, while Truman sits at 2-11.
Both teams are coming off losses in their most recent outings. The Bulldogs fell 82-79 at home to Malcolm X last Thursday, a game that extended their current skid to four consecutive losses. Prior to that, Daley’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with narrow victories over Olive-Harvey and Kennedy-King offset by several lopsided defeats.
The Falcons last played on Jan. 27, securing one of their two wins with a 79-70 road victory at Highland (Ill.). That win snapped a five-game losing streak. Truman’s season has been a struggle defensively, having allowed 90 or more points in four of its 11 losses.
A look at common opponents provides little clarity for Tuesday’s contest. Both teams have suffered double-digit losses to Malcolm X, Kankakee and Triton this season. Each squad also lost to Highland (Ill.) at home but managed a road win against the same opponent, suggesting unpredictable performances.
For Daley, finding a consistent scoring touch away from home has been problematic. The Bulldogs average just 68.3 points in their true road games this season. Truman will aim to exploit that while seeking to improve its own offensive output; the Falcons have been held under 65 points in six of their losses.
This game represents a critical opportunity for either team to build momentum before returning to their respective conference schedules later in the month. Following this contest, Daley will host Sauk Valley on Feb. 17, while Truman is set to host Kankakee the same night.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Truman’s home court.
