North Idaho vs Southern Idaho

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (Interstat) — A stark contrast in trajectories will be on display Saturday when the Southern Idaho Eagles, one of the nation’s premier junior college teams, host the .500 North Idaho Cardinal in a men’s basketball matchup.

The Eagles (18-2) enter as heavy favorites, boasting a record that dwarfs North Idaho’s 10-10 mark. Southern Idaho’s only two losses this season came on the road, including a surprising 83-77 defeat at Snow on Jan. 31 that snapped a seven-game winning streak. They have dominated the series recently, winning both meetings this season, including an 82-65 victory in Coeur d’Alene on Jan. 3.

Southern Idaho is led by guard Ace Reiser, a consistent all-around force. Reiser is averaging 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last seven games, including a 27-point performance in a win over Utah State Eastern on Jan. 17. In the Jan. 3 win over North Idaho, Reiser posted 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

The North Idaho Cardinal, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses in their last six contests. They are coming off a 70-63 loss at Utah State Eastern on Jan. 31. Their hopes for an upset will likely hinge on the versatile play of guard Ne’quan Brown. Over his last seven games, Brown is averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists, showcasing an ability to impact all facets of the game. He recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a win over Colorado Northwestern on Jan. 24.

For Southern Idaho, this game is an opportunity to reassert dominance after their recent stumble and maintain their position atop the conference standings. For North Idaho, it represents a chance to salvage a season split and secure a signature win that has eluded them. The Eagles’ depth and home-court advantage make them the clear favorite, but the Cardinal will look to Brown to engineer a competitive performance in a hostile environment.

Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at the Eagles’ home arena. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Coeur d’Alene on Feb. 21.
