Garden City Outlasts Independence in High-Scoring Junior College Affair

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Interstat) — The Garden City Broncbusters used a dominant rebounding performance and efficient offense to defeat the Independence Pirates 102-91 in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.

Garden City secured a decisive 40-25 rebounding edge and shot 54.5% from the floor to overcome a strong offensive effort from Independence. Nico Doume led the Broncbusters with 20 points and 14 rebounds. David Wilson scored 20 points for the Pirates.

Independence kept pace early, trailing just 47-44 after a fast-paced first quarter. However, Garden City’s interior control and ability to draw fouls proved the difference, as the Broncbusters attempted 50 free throws. The win improved Garden City to 14-8, while Independence fell to 12-8.
