East Georgia State vs Georgia Highlands

Preview: East Georgia State Bobcats at Georgia Highlands Chargers

ROME, Ga. (Interstat) — The Georgia Highlands Chargers will look to avenge a recent loss and build on their most dominant performance of the season when they host the East Georgia State Bobcats in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.

The Chargers (4-7) enter riding high after an 89-64 rout of Southern Crescent on Wednesday. Justen Goudelock led the way with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes, showcasing the form that makes him a key player for Georgia Highlands. Braylen Smith added a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists in the victory.

East Georgia State (6-14) seeks to rebound from a 30-point road loss at Central Georgia, also on Wednesday. In that defeat, Kam’ron Jackson posted 13 points and five rebounds. Jackson has been a consistent contributor for the Bobcats, scoring in double figures in two of his last five games.

This matchup is a quick rematch of a Jan. 10 meeting in Swainsboro, which East Georgia State won 92-85. Goudelock had 12 points and six rebounds for the Chargers in that loss, indicating this contest could hinge on the play of each team’s highlighted guard.

Despite their losing overall record, the Bobcats have shown they can compete within the region, with two of their six wins coming in conference play, including the earlier win over Georgia Highlands. The Chargers, however, have played nearly half as many games, making their record somewhat deceptive, and their explosive offensive showing last time out suggests potential for a high-scoring affair.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a dead heat, ending in a 100-100 tie, underscoring the anticipated competitiveness.

For Georgia Highlands, the game begins a crucial three-game homestand. East Georgia State continues a stretch of road games, with this being the first of two away contests in three days.
