Preview: Connors State Cowboys at Redlands Cougars

EL RENO, Okla. (Interstat) — The Connors State Cowboys visit the Redlands Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Thursday, looking to complete a regular-season sweep.

The Cowboys (6-5) defeated the Cougars (4-6) decisively, 106-78, in their first meeting on Jan. 5 in Warner. Connors State enters with momentum from an 82-73 victory over Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Monday. Redlands seeks to rebound from a 90-65 home loss to Seminole State (Okla.) on Jan. 31.

Connors State has shown inconsistency, alternating wins and losses in its last five games. Redlands has lost three of its last four, with its lone win in that span an 85-78 road victory at Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Jan. 29.

A key player for the Cowboys is CJ Lee Jr., who contributed 5 points and 2 rebounds in 1 minute of action during a 74-0 win over Seminole State on Jan. 29. His role will be one to monitor.

The Cougars will rely on guard Damond Matthews, who has been a consistent scoring threat. He averaged 17 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists over his last three contests, including an 18-point, 6-rebound performance in a loss to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Jan. 22.

Following this game, Redlands travels to face Eastern Oklahoma State on Monday. Connors State hosts Eastern Oklahoma State on Feb. 12.

Tipoff is set for Thursday night at Redlands Community College.
