COLBY, Kan. (Interstat) — The Dodge City Conquistadors earned an 80-71 men’s junior college basketball victory over the Colby Trojans on Wednesday night. Dodge City’s Derrick Rivers scored 20 points and Rickey Loftin added 19 to lead the Conquistadors, who improved to 17-7. Colby’s D.J. Cason led all scorers with 20 points in the loss, dropping the Trojans to 3-17. Both teams finished with 77 possessions, but Dodge City’s more efficient offense proved decisive. The Conquistadors shot 43.8% from the field and made 16 of 21 free throws, while Colby shot 33.3% overall. The Trojans won the rebounding battle 38-28 but committed 12 turnovers.
