Wabash Valley vs John A Logan
CARTERVILLE, Ill. (Interstat) — The John A. Logan Volunteers will look to solidify their winning season record and complete a regular-season sweep when they host the Wabash Valley Warriors in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday.
The Volunteers (9-5) enter with a better overall record and the momentum of a 70-54 road victory over Vincennes on Jan. 31. They previously defeated the Warriors 70-58 in Mount Carmel on Dec. 13.
A key player for John A. Logan is Christian Doerr, who is coming off a strong all-around performance of 16 points, five rebounds and six assists in the win at Vincennes. He is part of a balanced attack that saw Marcus Eaves also score 16 points with eight rebounds in that contest.
The visiting Warriors (8-10) have shown recent improvement, winning three of their last four games, including an 82-75 victory over Kaskaskia on Jan. 31. However, they will aim to find more consistent offensive production beyond their recent wins.
A player to watch for Wabash Valley is Byron McNeill. In the team’s last loss on Jan. 7, a 77-66 defeat at Southwestern Illinois, McNeill contributed six points and three rebounds. The Warriors will need contributions from multiple sources, like Taj Ford and Nazier Leonard, who were also noted as productive in the most recent win.
The matchup presents a contrast in trajectories. John A. Logan has won four of its last five games, with its only loss in that stretch a forfeit to Shawnee on Jan. 28 listed as a 0-0 result. Wabash Valley seeks to build on its modest winning streak and improve its standing in the region.
Following this game, John A. Logan will host Lake Land on Saturday, while Wabash Valley will prepare to host Southwestern Illinois the same day.
