Panola vs Bossier Parish
BOSSIER CITY, La. (Interstat) — The Panola Ponies and Bossier Parish Cavaliers, two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking consistency, will meet Wednesday night at the Coach Billy Montgomery Gymnasium.
Panola (9-10) enters with a stronger overall record but is looking to rebound from an 82-87 home loss to Blinn on Saturday. The Ponies previously defeated Bossier Parish handily, 79-60, in their first meeting on Dec. 9 in Carthage, Texas.
The Cavaliers (3-11) are mired in a prolonged slump, having lost nine consecutive games. Their most recent outing was a 63-91 road defeat at Blinn on Monday. Bossier Parish’s last win came on Jan. 3.
A key matchup will feature two standout forwards. Panola’s CJ Worsham is coming off a dominant performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Blinn. Over his last six games, Worsham is averaging 13.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
For Bossier Parish, Dustin Welch has been a bright spot during the losing streak. He logged 41 minutes and scored 15 points with eight rebounds in a narrow overtime loss to Tyler on Jan. 29, and is averaging 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds over his last five appearances.
Despite the Cavaliers’ struggles, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tightly contested affair, predicting a 100-100 draw. Both teams will look to their leading performers to break recent trends.
Following this game, Panola travels to face Navarro on Saturday. Bossier Parish remains at home to host Coastal Bend that same day.
