Indian Hills vs Triton
RIVER GROVE, Ill. (Interstat) — A national junior college power visits the suburbs Wednesday night as the No. 2-ranked Indian Hills Warriors face the Triton Trojans in a men’s basketball rematch.
Indian Hills (18-2), based in Ottumwa, Iowa, brings a formidable record and the nation’s ranking into the contest. The Warriors have won six straight, including a dominant 108-77 victory over Sauk Valley last Saturday. They previously handled Triton 94-71 on Jan. 13.
The Warriors are led by standout guard Chaz Watson, who is coming off a 32-point, six-rebound performance against Sauk Valley. Watson torched Triton for 29 points in the teams’ first meeting this season. His backcourt mate, Taj Au-Duke, dished out 10 assists in the recent win.
The Triton Trojans (10-8), seeking an upset at home, have shown resilience. They are coming off a 102-76 road win at Highland (Ill.) on Jan. 29. Forward Terez Holmes is the player to watch for the Trojans, having recorded a double-double in three of his last four games, including 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Richard J. Daley. Holmes had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in the loss at Indian Hills.
For Triton to reverse January’s result, containing Watson and improving defensive transition will be critical. The Warriors average over 88 points per game and have eclipsed 100 points three times this season.
Indian Hills has not lost since Dec. 13. Triton looks to build momentum before a tough stretch in its schedule.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST at the Robert M. Collins Center.
