North Platte vs Southeast
LINCOLN, Neb. (Interstat) — The North Platte Knights will look to extend their recent surge and complete a regular-season sweep when they visit the Southeast Bobcats in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday.
North Platte (11-7) enters on a three-game winning streak, including an 84-79 road victory over Western Nebraska on Sunday. The Knights have won five of their last six, with their only loss in that span coming at Lamar on Jan. 24.
Southeast (6-7) seeks to halt a two-game skid after a narrow 76-74 road loss to Trinidad State on Saturday. The Bobcats have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their past six contests.
The Knights dominated the first meeting this season, routing Southeast 102-71 at home on Jan. 21. North Platte’s Brady Kennison scored 17 points in just 22 minutes in that lopsided win. Kennison has been on a tear, averaging 23.1 points over his last seven games. He is coming off a 27-point, 5-rebound performance in Sunday’s win.
Southeast will counter with guard Carson Forsey, who scored 11 points in the prior loss to North Platte. Forsey has been a bright spot, averaging 18.3 points over his last three outings, including a 21-point effort in the loss to Trinidad State.
North Platte’s offense has found a rhythm, scoring at least 84 points in four of its last five wins. Southeast’s defense, which allowed 102 points in the first matchup, will need significant improvement to contain Kennison and a balanced Knights attack that also features Winston Allen and Justus Michael.
The Bobcats will need a stronger start at home in Lincoln to avoid an early deficit. In the Jan. 21 game, North Platte built a 52-32 halftime lead.
Following this game, North Platte will host Lamar on Saturday. Southeast travels to face McCook on Saturday.
