Baltimore City vs Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking to reverse difficult starts to their seasons will meet Wednesday when the Hagerstown Hawks host the Baltimore City Panthers.

The game at Hagerstown’s athletic facility tips off at 7 p.m. Eastern.

Baltimore City enters with an 0-6 record across all competitions, while Hagerstown sits at 2-9. Both teams are looking to build momentum as the season progresses.

The Hawks won the previous meeting this season, defeating the Panthers 64-50 in Baltimore on Nov. 15, 2025. In that contest, Hagerstown’s defense held Baltimore City in check.

Baltimore City is coming off a 92-72 road loss to Allegany (Md.) on Jan. 19. In that game, Shawn Nherisson scored 15 points with 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in 26 minutes. Jamar Payen led the Panthers with 21 points in just 15 minutes of play, and Jamari Seri added 11 points. The Panthers have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 89.2 points per game in their six losses.

Hagerstown last played on Jan. 12, falling 76-55 to Harcum. The Hawks’ two victories this season came against Harford (50-49) and Baltimore City. They have been held under 56 points in seven of their 11 games.

Key matchups will include Baltimore City’s Payen and Nherisson against a Hagerstown defense that has shown an ability to limit scoring. The Panthers will aim to improve their offensive execution after being held to 50 points in the first meeting.

Following this game, Hagerstown is scheduled to host Harford on Feb. 9. Baltimore City’s next contest is at home against Monroe on Feb. 14.

Wednesday’s game represents a critical opportunity for both squads to secure a rare win and gain confidence heading into the latter part of the schedule.
