Daytona State vs Eastern Florida State
Preview: Daytona State Falcons at Eastern Florida State Titans
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Interstat) — A Citrus Conference rematch with playoff implications is set for Wednesday when the Daytona State Falcons visit the Eastern Florida State Titans.
The Falcons (15-4), riding a three-game winning streak, will look to repeat their dominant performance from Jan. 3, when they defeated the Titans 96-83 in Daytona Beach. Daytona State is coming off a 75-54 road win at Hillsborough on Saturday.
Eastern Florida State (12-6) has won two straight, including an 87-80 victory over Polk State last Saturday, and seeks revenge on its home court.
The matchup features two of the conference’s standout forwards. Daytona State’s Adrian Shackleton has been a model of efficiency, averaging 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds over his last four games in just 23.3 minutes per contest. His versatility will be key for the Falcons.
The Titans counter with Sean Register Jr., who is coming off a monster 27-point, 13-rebound, 3-block performance against Polk State. Register has been a workhorse, averaging 22.8 points and 9.0 rebounds over his last four outings while logging heavy minutes.
Daytona State’s offense has been potent, scoring 95 points or more in three of its last five games. Eastern Florida State’s defense, which allowed 96 points in the last meeting, will need a stronger effort to slow the Falcons’ attack.
The Titans’ supporting cast showed promise in the win over Polk State, with Joviel Acevedo-Arroyo posting 20 points and 11 assists and Tyson Wilson adding 10 points and 14 rebounds.
With both teams jockeying for position in the conference standings ahead of the postseason, Wednesday’s contest is a critical benchmark. A win for Daytona State would solidify its top-tier status and complete a regular-season sweep. A victory for Eastern Florida State would announce the Titans as a serious contender and avenge their earlier loss.
Tip-off is scheduled for Wednesday night at Eastern Florida State College.
