Andrew vs South Georgia State
Preview: Andrew Fighting Tigers at South Georgia State Hawks
DOUGLAS, Ga. (Interstat) — The South Georgia State Hawks look to move above .500 as they host the struggling Andrew Fighting Tigers in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.
The Hawks (6-6) enter the contest at .500 following a 78-71 home win over Albany Tech on Jan. 21. South Georgia State has shown consistency at home, winning three of its last four games in Douglas.
A key factor for the Hawks is forward Jeremy Anderson, who is coming off a triple-double performance. In the win over Albany Tech, Anderson logged 32 minutes, scoring 14 points with 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Over his last four games, he has averaged 14.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists, establishing himself as a versatile focal point for the Hawks’ offense.
Andrew (2-6) seeks to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 99-71 road loss to Gordon State on Jan. 28. The Fighting Tigers have been outscored by an average of 30 points during their losing streak.
Guard Elijah White will be a player to watch for Andrew. He scored 20 points in a Jan. 17 victory over Georgia Highlands but was limited to just one minute in a 107-54 loss to South Georgia Tech on Jan. 24. His production often serves as a barometer for the Fighting Tigers’ competitiveness.
South Georgia State won the previous meeting this season, routing Andrew 107-54 on Jan. 24. In that game, Andrew’s White played only one minute.
The Hawks’ balanced attack, led by Anderson and supported by Trey Callaway and Chandler Thomas, will test an Andrew defense that has allowed an average of 90 points over its last three contests.
Following this game, South Georgia State will host Central Georgia on Saturday. Andrew travels to face Southern Crescent on Saturday.
