McCook vs Lamar
Preview: McCook Indians at Lamar Runnin’ Lopes
LAMAR, Colo. (Interstat) — The McCook Community College Indians, riding a two-game winning streak, will visit the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
McCook (9-7) enters with momentum after a high-scoring 121-96 home victory over Trinidad State on Saturday. The Indians also defeated Otero 100-85 last Friday. Lamar (5-11) snapped a two-game skid with a 75-72 road win at Western Nebraska on Jan. 14.
The game features a compelling individual matchup between two of the region’s top performers. McCook sophomore guard Nate Coley is coming off a historic triple-double, pouring in 40 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing 10 assists in just one minute of action in the win over Trinidad State. Over his last two games, Coley has averaged 25.5 points and 5.5 assists.
He will be countered by Lamar’s RJ Foreman, who nearly posted a double-double in the win over Western Nebraska, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Foreman has been a consistent interior force, averaging 14 points and 7.5 rebounds over his last two contests.
McCook’s offense has found its rhythm, averaging 110.5 points during its current streak. Beyond Coley, Djibril Diawara (21 points, seven rebounds vs. Trinidad State) and Mo Diao (14 points, four rebounds) provide significant support. Lamar will look to build on its defensive effort from the Western Nebraska game, where it held its opponent to 72 points, and get scoring from Ahmed Cisse, who had a team-high 19 points in that victory.
This contest is the first of a regular-season home-and-home series between the Region IX rivals. They will meet again in McCook, Neb., on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
For McCook, this begins a stretch of three out of four games on the road. Lamar continues a three-game homestand, seeking its first home victory since Nov. 28, 2025.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MST at the LCC Wellness Center.
