Cloud County vs Seward County

LIBERAL, Kan. (Interstat) — A surging Cloud County team will look to continue its climb and avenge an early-season loss when the Thunderbirds visit the Seward County Saints in a key Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at The Greenhouse.

Cloud County (9-7) enters on a five-game winning streak, its longest of the season. The Thunderbirds’ offense has been potent during the run, averaging 96.2 points per game. They are coming off a dominant 94-64 victory over Independence on Saturday.

A major catalyst has been forward Elidjah Savane, who has scored in double figures in five straight games. In the win over Independence, Savane posted 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in just 17 minutes. His efficient play off the bench provides a significant spark.

Seward County (13-5), however, presents a formidable challenge on its home floor. The Saints boast a stronger overall record but are looking to rebound from a narrow 79-77 road loss to Dodge City last Saturday. Guard RJ McKinnie leads the Saints, coming off a 20-point, six-rebound performance in that defeat. He averaged 20.5 points in his two games prior.

The teams’ first meeting this season resulted in an 85-65 road victory for Cloud County back on Nov. 19, 2025. The Thunderbirds will aim for a regular-season sweep, while the Saints seek to defend their home court and improve their conference standing.

The game will be a test of momentum versus pedigree. Cloud County’s recent high-scoring form will clash with a Seward County squad that has proven resilient, with three of its five losses coming in overtime, including its most recent conference defeat to Independence.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST Wednesday.
