Mississippi Delta vs Meridian
Struggling JUCO Teams Seek First Win of New Year in Tuesday Clash
MERIDIAN, Miss. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams searching for momentum will meet Tuesday when the Mississippi Delta Trojans visit the Meridian Eagles.
The non-conference game, scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026, pits programs with a combined 1-10 record across all competitions this season. Mississippi Delta (1-4) earned its sole victory in early December, while Meridian (0-6) is still pursuing its first win.
The Trojans are looking to rebound from a 77-71 home loss to Pearl River last Thursday. A key player for Mississippi Delta is guard Carter Mullins, who is coming off a strong performance in a Jan. 12 loss at Copiah-Lincoln, where he scored 17 points with four rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.
Meridian last played on Jan. 12, falling 73-57 at home to Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Eagles have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 85.3 points per game in their six losses.
Tuesday’s contest offers a critical opportunity for both squads to build confidence before resuming their demanding MACJC schedules later in the week. Mississippi Delta will host Jones on Thursday, while Meridian travels to face East Mississippi.
Despite their records, the intrastate matchup has historically been competitive. Both teams will aim to leverage this game to correct early-season struggles and find a winning formula.
The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. Central at the Meridian campus gymnasium.
