Barstow vs Mount San Jacinto
SAN JACINTO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Mount San Jacinto College men’s basketball team looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts a Barstow College squad seeking consistency in a California community college matchup Wednesday.
The Eagles (10-5) enter on a two-game win streak, most recently outlasting Desert 96-91 on Saturday. Adrian Mosley powered that victory with 24 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and four blocks, continuing a dominant stretch. The standout is averaging 26.4 points and 10.8 rebounds over his last five games, including a 31-point, 10-rebound performance in a win over Chaffey.
Mount San Jacinto’s offense has been potent, scoring 96 or more points in three of its last five contests. Willie Miller recorded a triple-double (14 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) in the win over Desert, providing a multifaceted threat alongside Mosley.
Barstow (6-9) snapped a two-game skid with a 72-58 home win over Victor Valley on Saturday. The Vikings are led by Peter Oguama, who posted 18 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in that victory despite playing just one minute due to early foul trouble. Oguama has been a force, registering a 24-point, 19-rebound game last month and averaging a double-double in recent outings.
The Vikings’ season has been marked by narrow defeats, including two-point losses to Los Angeles Valley and Santa Barbara in December. Their success often hinges on Oguama’s interior presence and the backcourt play of Princeton Green and Trestyne Nguru, who combined for 24 points and 12 assists against Victor Valley.
Wednesday’s game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 7 in Barstow. Mount San Jacinto holds the superior record and home-court advantage, but Barstow’s capability, especially with a full game from Oguama, poses a significant challenge.
Tipoff is set for Wednesday night at Mount San Jacinto College.
