Pasadena City vs Cerritos

Preview: Pasadena City at Cerritos Men’s Basketball

NORWALK, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Cerritos College men’s basketball team will look to continue its strong season when it hosts a streaky Pasadena City College squad in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup Wednesday.

The Falcons (12-3) enter the contest having won seven of their last eight games, including an 87-67 road victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech on Dec. 29. They are led by forward Dorian Tate, who is coming off a dominant 21-point, 14-rebound performance in that win. Over his last six games, Tate is averaging 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds.

The visiting Lancers (7-6) have alternated wins and losses over their past five games. They are looking to rebound from a heartbreaking 88-87 overtime defeat at Palomar on Dec. 30. In that loss, guard Gor-El Zollicofer scored 18 points with six rebounds. Zollicofer has been a consistent scorer for Pasadena City, reaching double figures in three of his last four outings.

Cerritos has established itself with a balanced attack and stout defense, holding opponents to 60 points or fewer in four of their 12 victories. Their only loss since early December was a one-point, 58-57 setback against San Diego Miramar.

Pasadena City has shown resilience on the road, with a 5-3 record away from home this season. However, they will face a significant challenge against a Cerritos team that has started the season with considerable momentum.

The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. PST tipoff at Cerritos College’s Falcon Gymnasium. It marks the conference opener for both teams.

Following this game, Cerritos will travel to face Mount San Antonio on Friday. Pasadena City continues its road stretch at Long Beach on Friday.
