Columbia (Calif.) vs Fresno City

COLUMBIA (Calif.) AT FRESNO CITY

FRESNO, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Columbia (Calif.) team will look to continue its strong season when it visits a struggling Fresno City squad in a California men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.

The Columbia Claim Jumpers (10-3) enter with a winning percentage near .800, having won three of their last four games. Their most recent result was a 90-81 road victory at Gavilan on Jan. 2. The team has shown resilience, with four of its wins coming by single-digit margins, including an 80-79 overtime thriller against Foothill on Dec. 5.

Conversely, the Fresno City Rams (5-9) have lost four of their last five contests. They are coming off a 98-88 road loss to Moorpark on Dec. 30. In that game, guard Christian English turned in a standout performance, scoring 30 points with six rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes. English will be the primary player to watch for the Rams as they seek to upset the visiting Claim Jumpers.

The matchup pits Columbia’s efficient offense, which has scored 90 or more points in three games this season, against a Fresno City defense that has allowed opponents to reach 98 points in two of its last five outings. The Rams’ victories have largely come when they limit opponents to the 70s, as seen in wins over Lassen (72-65) and Hartnell (86-68).

Columbia’s schedule shows balance, with the team having secured key home victories and competitive road results. Fresno City has struggled at home recently, dropping its last two games at home by wide margins to Citrus (102-78) and Redwoods (95-79).

This game is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season. They are slated to play again at Columbia on Jan. 31.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
