Eastern Wyoming vs Northwest
Preview: Northwest Trappers Host Eastern Wyoming Lancers in Junior College Men’s Basketball
POWELL, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Northwest College Trappers look to get back to .500 in region play when they host the struggling Eastern Wyoming College Lancers in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.
The game tips off at 4 p.m. at Northwest’s Cabre Gym.
Northwest (6-6) enters at an even split overall but is coming off a narrow 92-88 road loss to Dawson on Jan. 10. In that game, forward Braydon Bradshaw posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in just 24 minutes, establishing himself as a key player to watch. Guard Mateo Trujillo added 17 points and eight assists.
Eastern Wyoming (3-15) seeks to halt a five-game skid, with its last victory coming on Nov. 29 against Lake Region State. The Lancers’ most recent result was a 102-62 loss at Salt Lake on Nov. 12. Guard Drezdon Jensen has been a bright spot, scoring 22 points in 27 minutes in a loss to Southeast on Jan. 7.
The Trappers have shown resilience in close games, with three of their six losses decided by four points or fewer. Their home record includes a decisive 80-57 win over Miles on Dec. 13.
Conversely, the Lancers have faced defensive challenges, allowing an average of 86.2 points per game during their current losing streak. Their last five losses have all been by double digits.
This contest opens a critical stretch of Region IX North play for both teams. Northwest will aim to capitalize on its home court before a road-heavy February schedule. Eastern Wyoming begins a string of games against regional opponents, needing to find consistency to climb the standings.
The teams will meet again in Torrington on Feb. 5.
