Southeastern vs Triton
Preview: Southeastern Blackhawks at Triton Trojans
RIVER GROVE, Ill. (Interstat) — A pivotal men’s junior college basketball matchup between two .500 teams seeking momentum will tip off Saturday when the Southeastern Blackhawks visit the Triton Trojans.
Both teams enter the contest at 7 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2026, with identical 1-1 records in their last two games. Southeastern (8-6 overall) is coming off a 75-55 home victory over Harry S Truman on Thursday. Triton (7-7) looks to rebound from a 94-71 road loss to Indian Hills on Tuesday.
The game features a compelling contrast in recent standout performances. Southeastern’s Trevan Krumrei, a player to watch, is coming off a strong outing with 15 points and six rebounds in 21 minutes against Truman. His production will be key for the Blackhawks, who also got 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks from Aric Hines in that win.
Triton will counter with its own hot hand in guard Matt Sullivan. Despite the loss to Indian Hills, Sullivan erupted for 25 points in 27 minutes of play. His scoring ability will be central to the Trojans’ attack, alongside Terez Holmes, who posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds in the same game.
The teams have faced two common opponents this season with similar results. Both defeated Highland (Ill.) and Harry S Truman, while both fell to Indian Hills.
Saturday’s contest is the first of a regular-season home-and-home series. The rematch is scheduled for Feb. 7 at Southeastern.
For Triton, this game begins a stretch of three home contests in their next four games. Southeastern continues a road-heavy portion of its schedule before returning home next Saturday against Marshalltown.
With both squads sitting at the .500 mark, the outcome will provide a crucial early-January boost for the winner’s conference standing and season trajectory.
