Preview: South Georgia Tech Jets at East Georgia State Bobcats

SWAINSBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — Two Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the East Georgia State Bobcats host the South Georgia Tech Jets.

The game, scheduled for Jan. 17, 2026, features teams with nearly parallel records. The visiting Jets enter at 4-12 overall, while the home Bobcats are 5-11.

South Georgia Tech looks to snap a three-game skid, most recently a 78-53 road loss to South Georgia State on Wednesday. In that contest, guard Marcellus Myles was a bright spot, scoring 21 points in 29 minutes. Myles has emerged as a key scorer for the Jets, having poured in 21 points after a 16-minute, 6-point outing in a loss to Northwest Florida State on Jan. 3.

East Georgia State arrives with some confidence after a 64-55 overtime victory at Albany Tech on Wednesday. Forward Evan Daniel led the way with a dominant performance, recording 22 points and 7 rebounds in just one minute of action, according to provided statistics. His scoring punch will be central to the Bobcats’ attack.

Beyond the individual standouts, both teams have struggled for consistency. The Jets’ last win came on Dec. 7, 2025, at Richard Bland. The Bobcats have won two of their last three, including a 92-85 win over Georgia Highlands on Jan. 10.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring and dead-even affair, predicting a 100-100 final score. This suggests a potentially volatile contest between teams hungry for a conference win.

For South Georgia Tech, support for Myles will be crucial. Marc Ferdy posted 10 rebounds in the last game, and Clark Mastin dished 5 assists, providing other avenues for production.

The matchup is the first of a home-and-home series this season, with the rematch set for Feb. 14 in Americus.

East Georgia State will look to protect its home court and climb above .500 in GCAA play, while South Georgia Tech aims to derail those plans and find a winning formula away from home.
