REEDLEY, Calif. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams with identical records and contrasting recent fortunes will meet Saturday when the Reedley Tigers host the Skyline Trojans.

The non-conference matchup, scheduled for Jan. 3, 2026, pits a pair of 8-5 teams looking to build momentum for their upcoming league schedules. Both teams last played in December, but their paths diverged sharply at the month’s end.

Skyline enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating Cabrillo 78-72 on the road Wednesday. The Trojans have shown a potent offense, scoring 80 or more points in four of their victories, including a 91-74 win over Diablo Valley on Dec. 6.

A player to watch for Skyline is Sommari Tanner. The guard delivered a strong all-around performance in a Dec. 20 rout of Solano, contributing 10 points, six rebounds and an assist in 40 minutes of action.

Reedley, meanwhile, looks to rebound from a lopsided 74-47 road loss to Las Positas on Dec. 17. That defeat snapped a modest two-game win streak for the Tigers. In that loss, CJ Kornegay Jr. led Reedley with six rebounds and two assists, while Kevin Chambers added seven points and five rebounds.

Analyzing the broader season, Skyline’s results show a pattern of high-scoring wins balanced by some defensive struggles in losses. Reedley has been prone to volatile performances, with a 92-93 double-overtime thriller against Bakersfield in November contrasting with several defeats by 20 or more points.

The game will serve as a final tune-up for both squads before conference play begins next week. Skyline will open Coast Conference-North action at home against Chabot on Jan. 7. Reedley begins Central Valley Conference play at home against Lemoore the same day.

Saturday’s contest will hinge on whether Skyline’s current offensive rhythm can continue against a Reedley team desperate to defend its home court and correct its course after a difficult final outing in 2025. The identical records add an extra layer of intrigue to this California community college showdown.
