Allan Hancock vs Lemoore
LEMOORE, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Allan Hancock College men’s basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when it visits Lemoore College in a non-conference junior college matchup Saturday.
The Bulldogs (11-4) have won five straight games, most recently a 65-58 victory over Cypress on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles (6-7) have been off since a 78-62 win over Orange Coast on Dec. 20, which snapped a two-game skid.
Allan Hancock’s recent success has been fueled by forward Arlind Konjuhi. He scored 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win over Cypress, following a 12-point performance against Coalinga on Dec. 6. His inside presence complements a defense that has held opponents to 58, 39, 67 and 68 points during the streak.
Lemoore will counter with dynamic guard Mykayle McCoy, who is coming off a triple-double performance. In the win over Orange Coast, McCoy poured in 27 points, dished 7 assists and pulled down 12 rebounds. He has been a consistent force, averaging 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists over his last six contests.
The Bulldogs have shown balance. In the Cypress game, Noah Morris controlled the glass with 15 rebounds and Dasio Gonzales added 11 points. Lemoore’s supporting cast includes Na’Jae Stevenson, who had 17 points and 14 rebounds alongside McCoy last time out.
This game serves as a final tune-up before both teams enter conference play next week. Allan Hancock will open Western State Conference North Division action at home against Oxnard on Jan. 7. Lemoore begins Central Valley Conference play at Reedley on the same date.
Saturday’s tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Golden Eagles’ gymnasium.
