Yuba vs Solano
YUBA, Calif. (Interstat) — The Yuba College men’s basketball team delivered a dominant defensive performance, overwhelming Solano College 84-52 in a California Community College Athletic Association matchup on Friday night.
The 49ers seized control from the opening tip, establishing a 45-26 lead by the end of the first quarter and never relenting. Their defensive pressure was the defining story, forcing the Falcons into 22 turnovers while converting those mistakes into easy transition opportunities. Yuba also recorded nine steals and four blocked shots, stifling the Solano offense throughout the contest.
Offensively, Yuba operated with high efficiency, scoring 84 points on just 66 possessions for an offensive rating of 126.5. The 49ers shot 45.2% from the field and a sharp 45.5% from three-point range, making 10 of 22 attempts. They also capitalized at the free-throw line, hitting 18 of 24 attempts. Solano, by contrast, managed only 52 points on 77 possessions, an offensive rating of 67.9, and struggled mightily from deep, connecting on just 5 of 24 three-point attempts.
The most important sequence of the game occurred early in the first quarter, setting the tone for the lopsided affair. After Solano’s Dominick Dennis opened the scoring with a layup, Yuba’s defense locked down, triggering a series of empty Falcon possessions. Solano missed its next five shots and committed two turnovers before calling a timeout just three and a half minutes into the game, already trailing 11-2. This early stretch established Yuba’s defensive intensity, from which Solano never recovered. The Falcons’ offensive struggles were compounded by ball-handling issues, as their two total assists for the game underscored a night of stagnant and disrupted execution.
Yuba’s victory was a balanced effort. Javi Sidhu led the 49ers with 14 points, while Isaiah Chandavong added 12 points, four assists and a game-high four steals. Austin Ito and Cole Epperson each contributed 11 points, with Epperson pulling down seven rebounds. For Solano, Dominick Dennis recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Trevor Morris added 12 points.
The win improved Yuba’s season record to 10-5, while Solano fell to 3-10. The two teams are scheduled to meet again at Yuba on Jan. 30.
According to pregame analytics, Interstat’s ELO system gave Yuba a 96.10 percent probability to win, a projection the 49ers emphatically fulfilled through overwhelming defense and efficient scoring.
