MONTEREY PENINSULA, Calif. (Interstat) — The De Anza Mountain Lions avenged an earlier loss by defeating the Monterey Peninsula Lobos 81-75 in a California Community College men’s basketball game Friday.

De Anza, which lost by two points to Monterey Peninsula in November, built a narrow 81-75 lead by halftime and maintained that margin through a tightly contested second half. The victory improved the Mountain Lions’ season record to 6-8, while the Lobos fell to 5-11. The game was a reversal of the teams’ meeting last month, when Monterey Peninsula secured an 86-84 victory. Interstat’s ELO system had projected the Lobos with a slight probability to win.
