Los Angeles Trade Tech vs Santa Ana
SANTA ANA, Calif. (Interstat) — The undefeated Santa Ana Dons will put their perfect record on the line Friday when they host the Los Angeles Trade Tech Beavers in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.
The Dons (12-0) enter the new year as one of the state’s hottest teams, having won every contest by an average margin of 18.8 points. Their most recent victory was a 75-58 decision over Los Angeles City on Dec. 17, led by Christian Jimenez’s 12 rebounds and seven assists and Cameron Swist’s 15 points and five assists.
Santa Ana’s balanced attack and stout defense present a formidable challenge for any opponent.
Los Angeles Trade Tech (6-7) seeks consistency after a 87-67 loss to Cerritos on Monday. The Beavers have shown flashes, including a 20-point win over Saddleback on Dec. 15, but have struggled against top competition.
A key for the Beavers will be forward Will Smith Iii, who has been a bright spot. Smith is coming off an 11-point performance against Cerritos and has recorded three double-doubles this season, including a 20-point, 14-rebound effort in the win over Saddleback. His ability to score and control the glass will be critical against Santa Ana’s deep frontcourt.
The Beavers’ offense will need to solve a Santa Ana defense that has held opponents to 70 points or fewer in seven of its 12 games. Trade Tech has been held under 70 points in three of its seven losses this season.
Friday’s contest opens the 2026 portion of the schedule for both teams. Santa Ana begins a tough conference slate next week, while Trade Tech looks to spring an early upset and climb back to .500.
Tip-off is set for Friday, Jan. 2, at Santa Ana College.
