Walters State vs Columbia State

Undefeated Walters State Visits Columbia State in Key JUCO Matchup

COLUMBIA, Tenn. (Interstat) — The undefeated and nationally ranked Walters State Senators put their perfect record on the line Saturday against the Columbia State Chargers in a men’s junior college basketball clash.

Tipoff is set for Jan. 10, 2026, at Columbia State’s home venue.

The Senators (11-0), coming off a dominant 110-59 victory over Pellissippi State on Wednesday, have been a juggernaut this season. Their average margin of victory is 38.5 points, and they have scored 100 or more points in six of their 11 wins. In their last outing, Brian Carter (14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Jayden Nesbitt (10 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks) posted strong performances alongside standout Da’Mori Lytch.

Lytch, a key player for Walters State, is averaging a near double-double in limited minutes over his last three games, including a 15-point effort against Southern Crescent on Dec. 13.

The Columbia State Chargers (6-2) look to rebound from a tough 69-38 loss to Vincennes on Jan. 3. Prior to that, they had won three straight, including a 72-55 win over Shelton State on Dec. 19. Forward Jamison Glass has been a consistent force for the Chargers, recording double-doubles in two of his last three games, with a 16-point, 11-rebound performance against Shelton State.

The Chargers’ two losses this season have both come against Vincennes, suggesting they can compete with top teams but will need a more consistent offensive output to challenge the high-scoring Senators.

This game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again at Walters State on Feb. 21.

For Walters State, the contest begins a crucial stretch of conference play as they aim to maintain their pristine record. Columbia State seeks a statement win to solidify its standing and hand the Senators their first defeat.
