Southwestern Illinois vs John A Logan
SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS AT JOHN A LOGAN PREVIEW
CARTERVILLE, Ill. (Interstat) — The John A Logan Volunteers look to build on a high-scoring victory and climb above .500 when they host the struggling Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.
The Volunteers (5-5) are coming off a 107-99 road win at Lake Land on Wednesday. A player to watch for the home team is Alexander Bryant, who was among the team’s most productive players in that victory.
Southwestern Illinois (2-7) snapped a five-game losing streak with its own offensive outburst Wednesday, defeating Wabash Valley 77-66 at home. That win marked a season-high in points for the Blue Storm, who had averaged just 68.1 points per game during their recent skid.
The matchup presents a contrast in momentum. John A Logan has shown a potent offense, scoring 93 or more points in three of its five wins this season. Southwestern Illinois’s victory over Wabash Valley was its first since Dec. 13 and only its second of the campaign.
Despite the Volunteers’ superior record and home-court advantage, a statistical projection suggests a tight contest. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a 100-100 draw.
The Blue Storm’s season has been defined by road struggles, with all seven of their losses coming away from home, including defeats at Mineral Area, Shawnee, Three Rivers and Moberly Area. They will need to overcome that trend against a John A Logan team that is 3-2 at home this season.
For the Volunteers, consistency is key. They have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. A win Saturday would give them their first two-game winning streak since late November.
This game is the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams. They are scheduled to meet again at Southwestern Illinois on Feb. 14.
Following this contest, John A Logan travels to face Olney Central on Jan. 14. Southwestern Illinois’s next game is at Lake Land on Jan. 17.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at John A Logan College.
