Cape Fear vs Richard Bland
PETERSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to reverse early-season struggles will meet Saturday when the Cape Fear Sea Devils visit the Richard Bland Eagles in a men’s junior college basketball game.
Cape Fear (2-3) enters the contest off a 77-72 home loss to Wake Tech this past Wednesday. The Sea Devils’ season has been marked by inconsistency, with their victories coming against Chattanooga State (88-73) on Dec. 14 and at East Georgia State (77-67) on Nov. 1. Their losses include setbacks to Harcum and East Georgia State at home.
Richard Bland (0-5) is still in search of its first win. The Eagles fell 78-60 to South Georgia Tech on Dec. 7 in their most recent outing. Their season includes a narrow 54-52 loss at Harford and a double-overtime thriller, a 96-86 defeat to Wake Tech on Dec. 3. The Eagles have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in four of their five games.
Despite the records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring and even affair, predicting a 100-100 final score. This suggests a potential offensive breakout for both squads.
The matchup will be the first of a home-and-home series between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again at Cape Fear on Jan. 31.
For Cape Fear, the game begins a stretch of three road contests in four games. The Sea Devils will travel to Caldwell Tech and Denmark Tech next week. Richard Bland, following this game, will host USC Salkehatchie and Denmark Tech next weekend as it continues a five-game homestand.
Tip-off is set for Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in Petersburg. Both teams will be desperate to establish momentum as conference play deepens.
