Eastern Wyoming vs Southeast

Preview: Eastern Wyoming Lancers at Southeast Bobcats

TORRINGTON, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Southeast Bobcats will look to complete a season sweep when they host the struggling Eastern Wyoming Lancers in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.

The Bobcats (3-3) have won both meetings this season against the Lancers (3-14), though each victory required a second-half rally. Southeast won 84-81 on Nov. 22 in Torrington and followed with an 80-75 win on Dec. 13.

In the most recent matchup, Southeast’s comeback was fueled by containing Eastern Wyoming’s top scorers late. The Lancers’ Arthur Videira recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Carson Forsey scored a team-high 17 points. Their efforts weren’t enough to hold off the Bobcats, who have shown offensive balance in their wins.

Eastern Wyoming enters on a five-game losing streak, last winning on Nov. 29. Their defense has been a persistent issue, allowing an average of 86.2 points during the skid. The Lancers’ most recent result was a 102-62 road loss to Salt Lake on Nov. 12, 2021, highlighting a long stretch of road struggles.

Conversely, Southeast has been inconsistent but effective at home, boasting a 95-74 victory over State Fair on Dec. 2. The Bobcats have had a lengthy break since their Dec. 13 win at Eastern Wyoming, providing time to prepare.

For the Lancers, stopping Southeast’s momentum early will be critical. They have shown offensive capability, as in a 113-point outing against Lake Region State, but sustaining it for 40 minutes has been a challenge.

The game is the first of a two-game homestand for Southeast, which hosts Lamar on Saturday. Eastern Wyoming continues a difficult road stretch before hosting Northwest on Jan. 17.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. local time Wednesday at Southeast Community College.
