Chattanooga State vs Motlow State
Motlow State Bucks Set to Host Chattanooga State Tigers in Key JUCO Clash
LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Motlow State Bucks look to get back to a winning record when they host the Chattanooga State Tigers in a men’s junior college basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
The Bucks (6-5) enter the contest after a 94-84 road loss to South Georgia State on Dec. 13, which snapped a brief two-game win streak. Motlow State has shown offensive firepower this season, scoring 93 or more points in three of its six victories, including a 105-point outburst against Pellissippi State on Nov. 12. However, consistency has been an issue, with three losses coming by 15 or more points.
Chattanooga State (5-3) seeks to rebound from a three-week layoff following a decisive 87-67 home loss to Georgia Highlands on Dec. 16. That defeat ended a promising 3-1 stretch for the Tigers, which included an 83-66 win over Caldwell Tech and a 79-76 road victory at Georgia Highlands just 10 days prior to their loss to the same opponent. The Tigers have proven capable on the road, having also secured an 86-78 win at Southwest Tennessee in November.
A key matchup will be in the frontcourt, where Chattanooga State’s Sagna Ousseynou, who posted a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double in the team’s last outing, will contend with Motlow State’s interior players. The Tigers also feature high-scoring guard Colton Wilbanks, who dropped 31 points in the December loss.
Despite Motlow State holding a slight edge in the win column, Interstat’s game simulator projects a dead-even contest, forecasting a 100-100 final score. This suggests a potential high-paced offensive battle between the two squads.
For Motlow State, this game begins a critical stretch against conference opponents. The Bucks will host Walters State on Jan. 14 before traveling to Dyersburg State on Jan. 17.
Chattanooga State continues its road swing following this contest, visiting Roane State on Jan. 14. The Tigers and Bucks will meet again in Chattanooga on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday night at Motlow State’s Copperweld Arena.
