Pratt vs Colby

Preview: Pratt Beavers at Colby Trojans

COLBY, Kan. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Colby Trojans host the Pratt Beavers at the Colby Event Center.

The game features a pair of programs with difficult starts to the season. Colby enters at 2-9 overall, while Pratt is still in search of its first victory at 0-11.

The Trojans snapped a five-game skid in their last outing, earning an 89-79 home win over Hutchinson on Jan. 3. They will look to build on that performance and secure consecutive wins for the first time this season.

A key player for Colby is guard Aliou Diallo, who posted 17 points, six rebounds and five assists in the victory over Hutchinson. His all-around play will be central to the Trojans’ attack.

Pratt, meanwhile, is coming off a 95-73 road loss to Cloud County on Jan. 3. The Beavers have shown flashes but have struggled to close out games, with five of their 11 losses coming by 10 points or fewer.

The Beavers will rely on forward Seydina Faye, who has been a consistent performer. Faye is averaging 13 points over his last three games, including a 15-point effort at Cowley on Dec. 10.

Historically, matchups between struggling teams can provide a turning point. For Colby, protecting home court is crucial as they navigate a tough conference schedule. For Pratt, the search for that elusive first win becomes more urgent with each passing game.

The Trojans won both meetings last season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CST Wednesday.

Up Next: Colby travels to face Fort Hays Tech on Saturday. Pratt returns home to host Coffeyville on Saturday.
