Moberly Area vs Three Rivers
Undefeated Moberly Area Faces Three Rivers in Key JUCO Clash
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (Interstat) — The unbeaten Moberly Area Greyhounds put their perfect record on the line Wednesday against the Three Rivers Raiders in a men’s junior college basketball matchup at the Libla Family Sports Complex.
Moberly Area (10-0) enters as one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the region, though they have navigated several close calls. Their most recent game, a narrow 80-79 victory over John A Logan on Dec. 7, was typical of their season, which includes four wins by six points or fewer. The Greyhounds have shown resilience, with key contributors including Matt Hampton, who posted a near triple-double in that last outing with 15 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists, alongside Antonio Williams (14 points, eight rebounds, four blocks) and Davin Francis (16 points, five rebounds).
The Three Rivers Raiders (10-5) present a formidable challenge on their home floor. They are coming off a strong 81-72 road win against that same John A Logan team on Dec. 16. The Raiders’ season has been marked by offensive bursts but also inconsistency, with notable wins mixed with double-digit losses. Their home record and ability to score in volume, as seen in a 97-point performance against Lake Land in November, make them a dangerous opponent.
This contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs this season, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 11 in Poplar Bluff. The outcome could carry significant weight for regional standings and postseason positioning.
The Raiders will aim to leverage their home-court advantage and disrupt Moberly Area’s rhythm, while the Greyhounds will rely on their proven ability to win tight games and maintain their unblemished mark. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Central on Jan. 7.
