Grayson vs Southwestern Christian
Struggling Grayson Vikings Open Conference Play at Southwestern Christian Rams
DENISON, Texas (Interstat) — The Grayson Vikings look to halt a lengthy skid and find a fresh start in conference play when they visit the Southwestern Christian Rams on Wednesday night in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opener for both men’s basketball teams.
Grayson (2-13) enters on a six-game losing streak, with its last victory coming on Nov. 22. The Vikings have not played since a 81-65 home loss to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Dec. 13. Their challenging pre-conference schedule has seen them drop games by an average margin of 13.2 points during the current slide.
Southwestern Christian (6-8) has faced its own inconsistencies but possesses a more potent offense and the advantage of playing at home. The Rams are coming off a 79-66 road loss at Northern Oklahoma-Enid on Dec. 12 but showed resilience earlier in December with an 86-78 win over Baton Rouge and a tight 64-61 victory against Paris.
The matchup pits Grayson’s search for momentum against a Rams squad aiming to establish a winning record. According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring and even affair, forecasting a 100-100 tie, suggesting a potential for an offensive shootout.
For the Vikings, conference play offers a reset from a difficult non-conference campaign. Guard play and defensive intensity will be critical against a Southwestern Christian team capable of scoring in bursts. The Rams will rely on their home court to set the tone in the first of their two NTJCAC meetings this season; the rematch is scheduled for Feb. 7 in Denison.
Wednesday’s winner will gain an early edge in the conference standings. Following this game, Southwestern Christian travels to face Hill College on Saturday, while Grayson prepares to host Temple on Jan. 14.
Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026.
