WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — Wake Tech held off Cape Fear for a 77-72 victory in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night. The visiting Eagles built a narrow halftime lead and maintained it after a high-scoring first quarter.

Jaiden Shephard led Wake Tech with 14 rebounds and 10 points. Teammate Saiquone Harris scored a game-high 22 points. The Eagles improved to 3-3 overall despite shooting just 3 of 13 from three-point range. The Sea Devils fell to 2-3.

The result defied a pregame statistical projection that heavily favored Cape Fear to win. The teams will meet again in Raleigh on Jan. 28.
